California - Banquet Manager - SMG Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position oversees all Banquet Functions including, coffee breaks, buffet, plated and reception events. All functions serving any food & beverage items.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hiring and Training of all Food & Beverages Servers, Cashiers and Bartenders.
  • Maintaining labor costs and budget goals.
  • Fulfilling the service per each sales orders
  • Maintains an active role in local hospitality community and professional associations.
  • Attend in-house event-related meetings and relays immediate changes with other departments.
  • Supervises special event driver and runner.
  • Supervises and assist will all special event pulls and reverse pulls.
  • Oversees the completion of the cleanup at the event site to ensure all items are returned and the site is
    cleaned.
  • Maintaining all Banquet equipment cleanliness and annual maintenance.
  • Must be creative in designing buffets and coffee break décor.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service is a must
  • Position is very hands on with excessive interaction with clients during events.
  • Ordering linen and maintaining uniforms.
  • Inventory Control.
  • Completes bar consumption reports
  • Supervises bartenders during events
  • Ensures compliance with alcoholic beverage policy
  • Beverage Inventory, ordering, receiving and controls.
  • Time and attendance management.
  • Cash Handling and banquet Checks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK CONTACTS:

Daily contact with the Food & Beverage Director, Catering Managers and other convention center employees.  
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises all Special event F&B Staff
Supervises and trains Interns
Training of all Banquet employees
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works throughout the building.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least four years of management experience in a banquet facility servicing meals for large events.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong orientation to customer service and ability to work with other staff members in the facility.
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to meet required budgetary goals.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.
  • Computer skills to include Excel programs.
  • Serve-safe certified
  • Ability to be creative with buffet presentations and maintain a quality product.
  • Attention to detail and service oriented.
