Koka Booth

June 10, 2000

Town of Cary, NC

SMG has managed the Koka Booth Amphitheater since its opening. Built in 2000, the Koka Booth Amphitheatre is unlike any other venue in the area. Designed by architect William Rawn Associates of Boston, the park has been described as truly magnificent. Located among 14 acres of stately hardwoods and pines and beautifully situated next to Symphony Lake, the Amphitheatre blends with its natural setting. SMG is a good neighbor, creating an Amphitheatre Advisory Committee back in the first years of the contract to establish open communication with the people we knew would be the most impacted (sound and traffic) by amphitheatre events.

17 years

  • Voted Best Outdoor Amphitheatre by readers by the Independent Weekly each year since 2003.
  • The summer home for the North Carolina Symphony 7 show Summerfest Series. The Summerfest series is a family friendly series featuring popular and symphonic charts all while allowing patrons to picnic on the lawn
  • National concerts recently presented at Booth Amphitheatre include Alison Krauss & Union Station, Steve Miller Band, Ray LaMontagne, My Morning Jacket, Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Jack Johnson and many more.
  • 70% of Booth Amphitheatre events have a tie to local non-profit organizations with either a portion of proceeds benefiting a particular group, a canned-food drive collection summer campaign or offering reduced rental rates to area organizations looking to host their own private events.
  • Operating as Cary’s community-focused performing arts venue, SMG works extensively with local non-profit arts and non-arts organizations to make it possible for them to produce events at the Amphitheatre. These partnerships increase engagement and help make the case for broad based community support for the amphitheatre and the participating organization(s).
