David L. Lawrence Convention Center

OPENING DATE

February 7, 1981

FACILITY OWNER

Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County

OVERVIEW:

The environmentally-smart, SMG-managed David L. Lawrence Convention Center, is located in downtown Pittsburgh’s cultural district, within steps of theaters, galleries, restaurants and across the bridge from PNC Park-home to Pirate baseball, and Heinz Field-home to Steelers & Panther football. The Center’s dynamic architectural design is like no other—breath-taking views, open terraces, and a suspended roof structure. Our abundant pre-function space overlooks the Allegheny River as well as Pittsburgh’s impressive downtown skyline.

We have received the Gold (new construction) and Platinum (existing building) LEED® Certification rating from the US Green Building Council. The “green” features include: a natural ventilation system, an abundant amount of natural daylight, a water reclamation system, and an extensive waste diversion program.
