Our newest regional office was established in San Juan in 2006 in response to a significant increase in contracted activities and opportunities for growth within Latin America and the Caribbean. We currently operate arena and convention center facilities in Puerto Rico, exhibition facilities in Mexico City and are also active in pre-opening operations for new facility complexes in Acapulco and Tampico, Mexico.

 

Latin American operations are headed up by Sr. Regional Vice President Thom Connors, previously based in SMG’s Philadelphia Corporate headquarters where he led the Convention Center Division. Mr. Connors has been involved in the management and oversight of facility operations since 1978 and joined SMG in 1982. SMG’s Business Development team is investigating opportunities through Latin America. Current activity is focusing on the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Chile and Peru.
